Go Big

Go big. Two very simple words, but what exactly does it mean for us as Christians to go big? In this weeks blog, we are going to take an inside look into the first study of our camp for this summer and discuss how we are all called to go big and how God has a plan to help each and every one of us do just that.

Big Dream:

Each of us has been given an innate desire to be something and do something greater than our capabilities or our circumstances. We all have big dreams. However, no matter how passionate we are about our dreams and goals, we sometimes shy away from them. Often times we think they are too big and we are far too small to accomplish them. But the good news is that God is on our side, and has given each of us these specific dreams. Looking for a bible verse to help calm your nerves when your dreams seem too big? Turn to Ephesians 3:20,

“Now all glory to God, who is able, through his mighty power at work within us, to accomplish infinitely more than we might ask or think.”

Big Storm:

When Jesus came down to Earth, he had a big mission to fulfill. He came to live a perfect, sinless life. He then laid down His perfect life as a sacrifice to save each and every one of us. Jesus also recruited the help of 12 disciples to follow him and help show and teach the world about God. However, these 12 people were not what you would call big, important people. They were normal everyday people, just like you and me. God was able to do extraordinary things through these ordinary people simply because they put their faith in Jesus and believed that He was the Son of God. One night, God used a big storm to prove to the disciples just how powerful God was. Matthew 8:24-27 says,

“Suddenly, a fierce storm struck the lake, with waves breaking into the boat. But Jesus was sleeping. The disciples went and woke him up, shouting, “Lord, save us! We’re going to drown!” Jesus responded, “Why are you afraid? You have so little faith!” Then he got up and rebuked the wind and waves, and suddenly there was a great calm. The disciples were amazed. “Who is this man?” they asked. “Even the winds and waves obey him!”

Big God:

All of this leads to the main, important point. We serve a big God whose love, power, and purpose for our life are just as big. It’s crazy to think that God, the one who healed the blind, set the captives free, and calmed a storm as big as the one mentioned above, has a love that is just as big for us. However, that is exactly what the bible says. Romans 8:38 says, “And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God’s love. Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow—not even the powers of hell can separate us from God’s love.” That is a big love.

Simply put, God is so big and so good. He has such a grand purpose for your life and will equip you and empower you to fulfill exactly what He has destined. Jeremiah 29:11 says, “For I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.” It is time for you to Go Big.
